We’ve never doubted that Arkansas couldn’t live up to its nickname, the Natural State, but it’s still nice to see proof every now and then. One of the more underrated natural features of the state are the stunning canyons tucked away in the forests. See how many you’re familiar with as we hike through these gorgeous canyons of Arkansas.
Horseshoe Canyon is a breathtaking spot near the Buffalo National River in Jasper. One of the best things about the canyon is that it’s the home to Horseshoe Canyon Guest Ranch, a marvelous family-friendly retreat. Living up to its name, this canyon is a devil to get traverse. The 3-mile loop through Devil's Canyon takes you pass two stunning waterfalls and massive rock formations. If you'd like to learn more about the bushwhack through the canyon, visit this site.
Everyone knows and loves the Cedar Creek Trail in Petit Jean State Park, but that also means it tends to get crowded quickly. The Canyon Trail is a lovely break from the congestion that still has the peaceful aesthetic of Cedar Creek. Thunder Canyon Falls is arguably the most beautiful spot in all of Arkansas. If you haven't made the effort to bushwhack beyond Cecil Creek Trail, you certainly need to plan a trip.
