2017 is the first year that BASIS Scottsdale has ranked No. 1 on the list of best public schools in the Nation.

Part of a larger group of charter schools, BASIS Scottsdale was founded in 2003 and is publicly funded and privately run.

There are 754 students enrolled at this school, ranging from 5th graders to 12th graders.

The school prioritizes college readiness, requiring students to each take at least eight AP courses.

In fact, the students from BASIS Scottsdale take an average of eleven AP exams and receive an average score of 3.78 out of 5.

Perhaps the most incredible statistic of all is the 100% graduation rate among seniors.
