Small towns are the backbone of our state. The lifestyle and community is much different than larger towns in Alaska like Anchorage, and they’re the best places to grow up. Here are some of the reasons why growing up in small town Alaska is so great:

The idea of going shopping still has a bit of a sparkle for a lot of small town residents. When you get to go into town (Anchorage) you get to shop at a real live store instead of online.
3) Movies are a family outing.

If you live in small town Alaska then you most likely don't have a movie theater. So, when you get the chance to go see a flick it ends up being a family affair!
4) Getting around town takes less gas than you think.

Going to the neighbor's down the street? How about swinging by the mini mart for a gallon of milk? Hop on the snow machine, that's all you need to get there.

In small town Alaska, there actually is less than one of everything. You probably don't have a movie theater or a nail salon, but that's okay because you can still drive an hour to get to one.
