Burritt on the Mountain is an open-air museum that's located atop Round Top Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. Situated on a 167-acre site, this attraction is the former estate of Dr. William Burritt and gives us a glimpse of 19th century farm life.
Dr. Burritt died in 1955 and had no heirs. He willed his home and land to the city of Huntsville.
Burritt Mansion is filled with numerous antique furnishings that are specific to the home's time period.
Some of these beautiful furnishings are original to the house.
Since becoming a public attraction, several 19th-century buildings have been added to Burritt on the Mountain. A few of these buildings include the Chandler House, an 1884 church, and the Joel Eddins House (pictured below).
The Joel Eddins House is a hall-and-parlor log house that was built in 1810. It's the oldest documented building in Alabama.
