Alabama is full of natural and man-made beauty. Some of these places are so beautiful that you have to pinch yourself to make sure you’re not dreaming. Here are a few of the most surreal and magical spots you can visit in Alabama:
1. Cheaha State Park, Delta
This gorgeous park is home to Cheaha Mountain, the highest point in Alabama, so you know there are some stunning views here. It's also Alabama's oldest state park.
2. Mosher Castle, Fairhope
How adorable is this little castle in Fairhope? Don't you feel like a princess could be sitting up in that tower? Viewing and photographing the castle is allowed, but the owner must be contacted for a tour.
3. Little River Canyon National Preserve
Little River Falls is the first scenic stop on a tour of Little River Canyon, a preserve located near Fort Payne. The waterfall is 45 feet tall, and the water is much higher in the winter and spring, when the waterfall is most impressive.
4. Cathedral Caverns State Park, Woodville
These caverns have some incredible features, including one of the largest stalagmites in the world. This place deserves a spot on every Alabamian's bucket list.
5. Bellingrath Gardens and Home, Theodore
This lovely 65-acre estate near Mobile looks like something straight out of a fairy tale.
6. Sipsey Wilderness
The Sipsey Wilderness is located within Bankhead National Forest in northwestern Alabama. This beautiful place is nicknamed "Land of 1,000 Waterfalls," and it's one of the most beloved wilderness areas in the state. Pictured is Turkey Foot Falls.
7. Ave Maria Grotto, Cullman
This park is like nothing you've ever seen. These tiny reproductions of famous religious sites set in an old quarry are the life's work of a Benedictine monk at St. Bernard Abby.
8. Huntsville Botanical Garden
No matter what season, there's always something to see at this enchanting garden. Features include a nature center with a seasonal butterfly house, rose and wildflower gardens and a trail of Flowering Dogwood trees.
9. Oak Hollow Farm, Fairhope
This charming farm in Fairhope consists of 300 acres of scenic countryside. The farm is perfect for special events like weddings or activities such as horseback riding, archery and hayrides.
10. Palisades Park, Oneonta
This 100-acre park in Blount County sits in the foothills of the Southern Appalachians. The scenic bluff of Ebell Mountain is the centerpiece of this hidden gem.
