It was just last week that we spoke of the devastating wildfires that have been raging through the Yellowhammer State. Now it saddens us to report that Alabama is dealing with another nasty form of Mother Nature, severe storms and tornadoes. With three residents dead and tornado watches still underway, our prayers go out to all of those who find themselves in the midst of these natural disasters.

As of now, severe storms that took place just last night have left a total of five people dead in the United States.

Three Alabama residents were killed as well as two people from the state of Tennessee after the tornado hit early Wednesday morning.
The series of storms that raged from the coast of Louisiana all the way across Mississippi and Alabama to Georgia have quickly caused a devastating amount of damage to our country.

While most areas that were affected were only under tornado watches until noon today, many new areas around our state and surrounding states have been placed on extended watches until later this evening. It's been reported that between these tornado watches and other storms, over 10 million people spanning from Louisiana to the western regions of North Carolina are at risk for severe weather.

According to the National Weather Service, the highlighted areas of Alabama below are under a tornado watch until 6PM this evening.

You can find up to date information on the latest tornado watches and warnings at the National Weather Service's Twitter. According to Alabama Power, over 4,000 customers in the city of Guin had reported outages since the storms hit our state, as well as outages in areas of Birmingham and Colbert County.
The main area of Alabama that was affected by last night's tornado was the community of Rosalie, completely destroying the local daycare center.

Though most of the storm took place just after midnight last night, it was early Wednesday when the Ider Christian Daycare Academy was completely destroyed in DeKalb County. The daycare was not open at the time the tornado hit; the operators who live nearby had taken shelter in the building.

Out on Highway 71 in Rosalie, Alabama's three deaths all occurred in one home. Over twenty homes and a handful of poultry stations were also destroyed throughout DeKalb County, leaving residents heartbroken.
