It seems that more and more people are choosing to move to Alabama, or relocating to a different city. According to the U.S. Census, some cities are growing at a much faster rate than others. From small cities to large cities, and everything in between, listed below are Alabama’s 12 fastest-growing cities.

Helena is located in both Jefferson and Shelby counties. This suburb of Birmingham and has been voted one of the best places to live in Alabama. According to the U.S. Census, Helena had a population of 16,793 in 2010 and an estimated population of 18,673 in 2016, which resulted in a 1,880 population increase. Percentage growth: 11.2
Madison is located mostly in Madison County, and it's bordered by Huntsville on all sides. It's a great place to raise a family. According to the U.S. Census, Madison had a population of 42,938 in 2010 and an estimated population of 47,959 in 2016, which resulted in a 5,021 population increase. Percentage growth: 11.69

Opelika is the county seat of Lee County. It's well known for its attractive downtown area, which includes galleries, antique stores, specialty shops and more. According to the U.S. Census, Opelika had a population of 26,477 in 2010 and an estimated population of 29,869 in 2016, which resulted in a 3,392 population increase. Percentage growth: 12.81

Phenix City is located in both Lee and Russell counties. It's one of the best, and most affordable, places to raise a family. According to the U.S. Census, Phenix City had a population of 32,822 in 2010 and an estimated population of 37,132 in 2016, which resulted in a 4,310 population increase. Percentage growth: 13.13
Athens, the county seat of Limestone County, is the home of Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant, which was once the largest nuclear plant in the world. Calera is a charming city in both Shelby and Chilton counties. Its most popular attraction is the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum.
